How We Inspect Our Items
Before any item is refurbished, it undergoes a detailed inspection to ensure they will be safe for our customers. We use magnification tools to examine each device for signs of wear, dirt and debris, corrosion, and damage. This ensures we fully understand the condition of the item and can determine the best approach for restoration.
What We Repair and Replace
Exterior Cleaning
Carefully clean the outer casing using isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs, and other gentle cleaning products to remove dirt, grime, and residues.
Interior Cleaning
Open the device to clean internal components such as:
Circuit boards (dust, corrosion, and debris removal)
Mechanical parts (rollers, wheels, gears, belts)
Internal surfaces and fabric parts where applicable
Component-Specific Treatment
Walkmans & Cassette Players: Clean or replace rollers and capstans to ensure smooth tape playback. Check and clean pinch rollers and tape heads.
Headphone Jacks: Apply DeoxIT to remove oxidation and improve sound quality and electrical conductivity.
Functional Testing
Power on and test the device to ensure all features and functions are working properly.
Check audio, display, mechanical movement, and all user interface elements for responsiveness.
Quality Control
Only list items for sale that meet our internal standards for cleanliness, functionality, and presentation.
We use specialized tools to reach small corners and crevices, ensuring no part of the device is overlooked. If corrosion is present, we apply appropriate solvents to clean and fully remove it. We only sell items with very minor corrosion, typically around battery terminals or contacts, ensuring that all refurbished products meet our strict quality guidelines.
